Tasting

Tasting

I Quattro Bastioni, 90/100 in the guide “I vini di Veronelli 2020”, conquers with its velvety tannins and its warm bouquet that tastes of red fruits, violets and orange.

Vinification
notes

The Sangiovese grapes of the different clones are harvested together and fermented in blends. Fermentation and subsequent maceration on the skins take place in steel vats at a controlled temperature. The contact of the wine with the skins lasts an average of 18 days; malolactic fermentation follows. The refinement is 6 months in steel and a minimum of 3 months in the bottle for a total of 7,000 bottles produced each year.

Label

I Quattro Bastioni contains a sketch of a mythological animal and symbol of strength that features in many fairy tales. It is a drawing by Silvio Gordini, one of the best-known artists of Emilia-Romagna, great-grandfather on the mother’s side of Aldo and Paolo Rametta.

Interesting fact – I Quattro Bastioni pays homage to the imposing defence blocks (Sant’Andrea, S. Martino, Santa Reparata, Santa Maria) commissioned by Cosimo I and placed at the four corners of the approximately 13-metre-high wall, which surrounds the citadel, with rectangular area of 2 kilometres by 87 metres.
