The Poggio della Dogana estate is spread over a hilly area at an altitude between 180 and 300 metres above sea level, in the province of Forl\u00ec-Cesena, sandwiched between the majestic Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines and the Adriatic coast, about thirty kilometres away.<\/p>\n

The land, the predominant element of the stylistic code of our wines, differs greatly according to the hillside on which the organically managed vineyards are located.
Romagna Sangiovese, a true result of soils and microclimates, is expressed in these lands in wines with recognisable characteristics.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Castrocaro

Here the landscape is a succession of slopes covered in meadows and woods surrounded by a spectacular natural setting: the Vena del Gesso, a mountain range in the lower northern Apennines made up of salt layers formed 6 million years ago. Poggio della Dogana is situated on two of the many settlements developed by nature and man throughout history.<\/p>\n

In Castrocaro, a renowned spa resort, the soil is dominated by brown and ochre clays, rich in bromine, sulphur and calcium. The area also benefits from the breezes coming from the Adriatic coast.<\/p>\n

In Brisighella, the terroir is characterised by marl and sandstone, in which sandy veins alternate with calcareous clays, at times with blue hues, which give an unmistakeable saline finish.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t

      Organic

      The harvest of organic grapes is transferred to the cellar to be processed separately according to the vineyard and variety.<\/p>\n

      In the tanks, the crushing and destemming is gentle, to respect the consistency of the bunches. The fermentation is triggered exclusively with indigenous yeasts and the management of the fluids at a controlled temperature.<\/p>\n

      Long aging times, mostly in concrete so that the wine can express itself in a fully natural way, up to the bottling of the product. The commitment of the Poggio della Dogana staff is respectful of the qualitative expression of the grapes harvested in the vineyard.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

      A large colony of bees has found a home in Poggio della Dogana, an ideal habitat away from pesticides and inorganic fertilisers. Entrusted to the care of a local beekeeper, our little guests live among the rows and make a fundamental contribution to the wine-growing chain, as they are responsible for the pollination of the vine, thus facilitating the production of grapes and maintaining the quality of the harvest.<\/p>\n

      There can be no sustainable viticulture without biodiversity, which is why there are dozens of olive trees among our vineyards. They not only enrich the landscape, but also perform fundamental environmental functions, mitigating the climate and hosting the microfauna functional to organic cultivation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t
